Let's see.....I have been resonating with the Banjo for Many years now( half my life!) and The experiences that it lead me thru have been indescribable. I shall not try to scribe or describe them. I have been priveledged to learn from the masters all around me...The many incarnations of he Snake Oil Medicine Show( one Of which includes CX-1, but is not limited to just that either.) CX-1, AVAS, And most recently Futureman And the Black Motzart Ensemble. These musical experiences are ongoing and everpresent, They manifest in Schools and Concert halls, bars and clubs, festivals and livingrooms. I hope we can come to your area with a universal love frequency(vibration[song])!HERE is Some more words:Andy Pond is one of the most promising progressive-acoustic musicians on the scene today. Over the past 15 years he has toured nationally and internationally performing at festivals, clubs, workshops, school programs, and charity outreach. His approach to the Banjo is all encompassing with state of the art instruments and equipment. Andy is picking up where the innovators left off to further the banjo in the world of music. Andy is a musician of the world. Knowing no boundaries in music, he is involved in several groundbreaking cultural music projects. Andy was chosen to be a part of and compose for Edgar Meyer's classical fusion workshop, called the Porous Borders of Music, at Carnegie Hall. The week-long study with the masters of the acoustic scene culminated into a performance at Carnegie Hall. He is involved in Roy "Futureman" Wooten's Black Mozart Ensemble. This Multi-media production is crossing into all sorts of musical and cultural worlds. He has pioneered and organized BluegrassTafarI, Which is a Jamaican Cultural exchange of the two bands, The Overtakers and CX-1. Fusing the roots music of Appalachia and Jamaica. The Snake Oil Medicine Show is an international Multi-media project spanning 13 years. The latest group, CX-1, is Taking their "roots Fusion" music to the next level. Andy has a passion for merging past roots with the technology of today. He is the Only Banjoist to be officially sponsored by Moog Music, the pioneers of synthesizers and Electronic Music. You can hear how the "traditional" sound of the banjo is brought up to the Now every time you hear Andy perform. As well as his love of performance, Andy is passionate about education as well. From School performances and Educational Workshops to international folk music camps, Andy teaches that Music and Art are processes to be lived as well as played. He has instructed banjo and music both publicly and privately for over 10 years. Andy was the first and only banjo principal to graduate from Appalachian State University Music School. He studied Jazz and Classical music, and started a Bluegrass Ensemble while he was in school there. His Performance experience has led him to play at Carnegie Hall, The Grand Ole Opry, The Fillmore, and countless theaters and festivals in the US, Europe, and Jamaica. He is fortunate to have played banjo with Roy "futureman" Wooten, Edgar Meyer, Mike Marshall , Joe Craven, Vassar Clements, Darol Anger, Tony Rice, Peter Rowan, Yonder Mt. String Band, Larry Keel, Keller Williams, and countless other great entertainers. He has done television and movie soundtracks as well as acting. His original music is played on radio stations across the US and in Europe. His music is featured on XM and Sirius Satellite Radio. As a pioneer of "Roots Fusion" music and BluegrassTafarI, Andy is an advocate of banjo awareness in all music.
