Hey- I'm Brittany Gholson "BURT"!Music has always been an influence in my life. God has blessed me with the ability to write music and to play instruments, and I'm so thankful for that. At the age of 9 I began writing my own songs. I started out writing silly songs and sent one of those songs in to a veggie tales songwriting competition. A few years later I began to see how important music was to not just me, but to many people. I decided that since I was usually shy and didn't talk much- I could communicate through music. I began to write songs about God.
When I was 13, my grandmother passed down to me a small, old guitar that was in the family. My cousin wrote down some basic chords, and I practiced them constantly. Soon, I was writing songs with the guitar, and I began to record music on my own at home. I have helped with my church's praise band and performed at coffee houses and other events. Recently, I was a winner of a songwritting competition through Sunlite Music in Owensboro, KY.When writing, I focus on being completely honest. I write about things I have learned through my walk with God, and about things I find joy in.I do believe that God created us to bring Himself glory. I believe that He has equiped each of us with different gifts and has given each of us everything we need in order to serve Him, make His name known, and bring Him glory. For some people - that means being a teacher, for some it means being a listener, for others it may mean hiking into a jungle to give someone a drink of water. Each person has a different role in making God famous and each role is important. May you discover your role and fulfill it!All honest feedback, positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated.
