I am here for Networking

About Me

MACLA is an inclusive contemporary arts space grounded in the Chicano/Latino experience that incubates new visual, literary, and performance art in order to engage people in civic dialogue and community transformation.
While many Latino community based art organizations have concentrated on the preservation and dissemination of traditional art forms, MACLA has been explicitly dedicated to supporting the work of Latino artists interested in creating symbols and language for a new society and a new time. MACLA produces approximately 50 individual programs a year in three distinct programming tracts: visual arts, performance, and literary arts youth arts education.
We'd like to think of ourselves as an incubator where young people explore the ideas that are shaping a whole new generation of bicultural/bilingual Americans. For the past ten years, MACLA has presented over 500 emerging and highly established artists and authors. Annually, we reach over 16,000 people with our programs, A core group of individual donors and volunteers contribute time and resources to MACLA on an on-going basis. The cross-pollination of Latino and non-Latino audiences has been a distinctive feature of MACLA since its inception.
A number of established annual events constitute our core programmatic structure. These include a remarkable record of accomplishment in the visual arts, presenting 5 to 7 exhibitions every year enhanced by artists' talks and high-quality publications.
