I am a Political Science major and a Sociology/Philosophy minor fulfilling a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Alberta. The plan is to spend a year once I get my BA to get a Master's degree in International Relations and then go on to get a law degree (focussing on International Law and maybe some Environmental Law too). Sometimes life doesn’t wait though, so who knows. I might take a few years off to do aid work in between.
I love music. It plays a huge part in who I am and I would be lost without it. I play drums and bass, though not nearly as much as I wish I did. I honestly would not know what to do with myself without music. It's a permanent thing in an ever-changing world.
I love animals! I have two bunnies, a chinchilla, six cats and seven dogs that I would die for...they are my little children and I love them with my entire heart. All animals are such beautiful and innocent creatures; you would need a word at least 11.3 times stronger than love to explain how I feel about animals. I really just want to hug every single one in the world...and I will one day pet a panda. I don't care what anyone says: it will happen! Just wait for it.
I am a strict vegetarian and proud of it! I do not eat any product that an animal had to die for in order for us (you) to enjoy. If you don't try to force me to, I will not try to force you to eat spinach nuggets and soy hot dogs!
I am not religious at all. I do not believe in god; christian or otherwise. To be completely honest, if you try to convert me or condemn me for my beliefs, I will likely kick your ass because I do not condemn you for yours. I will accept that you believe in god if you are willing to accept that I don't. OK? On that note, my views on life tend to be based in an all around spiritual idea (if actually based in anything); I'm an atheist, not a nihilist.
I am an advocate for change in the world. It forms a huge part of my identity and my ambitions. I love animals, I love nature and I wholeheartedly love humanity. I believe that we are all innately good people. We need to protect and speak up for those who do not have a voice and cannot defend themselves.
I strongly believe that all war and fighting needs to end. Children are becoming pawns in horrible political campaigns throughout the world, they grow up thinking that guns are toys and people are merely targets. As a unified human race, we need to stand up together against such blatant injustice, whether it happens within our own borders or not. We have sworn so many times in the past that we would never let such atrocities continue, and yet they do. It needs to end. We truly do have the power to change the world! Believe that and anything is possible.
I say all this because it is all an integral part of who I am; I am very passionate about music, humanitarianism and my personal beliefs. All that said, I am a very laid back person. I often straddle the boundary between crazy and sane. I tend to be shy at first, but once I 'get to know' you (or once I get some alcohol in me, either of which takes 5 minutes) I am like an open book. This becomes awfully apparent when I get really drunk: after I cross the threshold, I will tell you everything there is to know about my life (even my forcefully guarded past!). I really do think I am a pretty rad person...I am proud of who I am and what I have accomplished/overcome/become so far in my life.[LOVEMYFLASH][/LOVEMYFLASH]
