RML Films is a fresh new independent company which hopes to extend over the next year.
The name comes from the founder Rita-Marie Lawlor. The second youngest from a family of six - three brothers and two sisters, who are also heavily involved within the arts. Rita-Marie graduated with a B TEC HND in film production in 2004 after studying film full time for two years. She was awared a best film award for heart wrenching short Innocence where she co-directed and produced in 2003, it was screened in the Irish Film Institute Dublin. She has also written and directed other short college films which were widely appreciated: No. 52, and Escape. Before that she studied photography and was awarded a distinction from the Royal Photographic Society, London. Her photographic work ranges from music, fashion, sport, film stills and alternative.
She also has a Guildhall Merit in Theatre studies, a City&Guilds in drama and music, plus a distinction in music theory from Victoria College of Music, London aswell as perfoming arts 1996/1998 in both London & Dublin.
Overall she has twelve years experience in film and TV, whether it be acting, working as an extra, production assistant, DOP or doing stills photography.
She began writing scripts at the age of twelve and Apollo Music Club is one of her first main scripts to work on. Aswell as the arts she has a certificate in Criminology and Psychology, she also has a desire to study Forenzic Psychology later on in life and believes this would enhance her writing!.
She practices Yoga - both Hatha and extremely physical Ashtanga, and also holds a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do. She has also been a vegetarian for eighteen years and takes part in peaceful animal rights demonstrations whenever she can.
Rita-Marie's current indie feature Apollo Music Club had it's official screening on August 19th 2008 and will be sceened on Irish TV channel BuzzTV and British channel Propeller TV. It has also been entered into various film festivals in Ireland, UK and the USA.
She currently works as a freelance photographer for the North County Dublin leader and is studying for a BA HONS Degree in Media Production Management.
