I'm here to kick your ass, and you know it, and everybody here knows it, and above all, you deserve

About Me

Well, I am one of those people who decides to do something and just does it. I am a terrible liar, but a great exaggerator. I enjoy all of the people in my life and I feel very lucky every day. I have realized that life is not about the planning, spending, working, stressing...it is about living.

My Interests

Movies (dramas or indies), theatre (any type), live music (as long as it's good music--genre doesn't matter), travel (I prefer mountains to beaches), outdoor activitites that do not involve jumping out of planes, dining out (I like almost all food as long as it doesn't contain meat)....
Myspace Layouts

I'd like to meet:

hmmm....anyone that knows how to either a)spell or b)use spellcheck...ok...that was rude, but I do teach at a university, therefore, I am picky...apparently not about punctuation.

Music:

I like just about anything. I have an odd mix on my IPOD which may go from folk (Judy Collins, Cat Stevens & the like) to Elvis Costello to 80's stuff to the Pixies, Kelly Clarkson, James Taylor, Duran Duran (duh), Blondie, Nina Simone, Ella, anything classical, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Norah Jones, Alison Krauss, Annie Lennox, Carole King, Carpenters, Cowboy Junkies, Diana Krull, The Drovers, Eva Cassidy, Green Day, John Denver, Joni Mitchell, The Killers, Nickel Creek, Pink, REM, Sarah Vaughan, Supertramp, Queen, They Might Be Giants, Tori Amos, Uncle Bonsai, Idina Menzel, Will Hoge, Neko Case, Josh Ritter, Jamie Cullum, Will Kimbrough, One Under, The Weepies, Mike Doughty and so much more....

Movies:

I don't care for 'dumb comedies' such as "Dumb and Dumber" and the like (but I did enjoy Wedding Crashers). I love the Drama and Action movies, but I also appreciate Independent films and shorts. Here are some of my top 100 films of all times: The Long Hot Summer, The Color Purple, Imitation of Life, Giant, Strictly Ballroom, ET (just because it was awesome!), Star Wars, JAWS (I still won't swim in the ocean if I can't see the bottom), The Constant Gardner, all of the Lord of the Rings movies, A Room with a View, Leaving Las Vegas, Trainspotting, Secretary (pretty much the hottest sex scene ever), The Player, and so many more....

Television:

I'm sick of reality shows, they are stupid (well, except for American Idol) and in my mind most news shows have turned into some form of a reality show as opposed to news, well except for Jon Stewart, but then he doesn't pretend to be a news show. I am more of a drama kind of girl. I love Law & Order: SVU, Judging Amy, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, The Medium and The Gilmore Girls. Also, if you know me, you know of my past history with La Femme Nikita...also a huge fan of X-Files, now replaced by Bones and Supernatural. Loved NYPD Blue...

Books:

Well, I will read (and have read) just about anything from Fiction, History, Biographies, non-Fiction and anything that catches my eye. Here are some books that can be considered among my favorites: The Stand, the biography of Marian Anderson, Jane Eyre, Zen and the Art of Archery, Devil in the White City, The Awakening, The Sun Also Rises, anything by Isabel Allende, Margaret Atwood and so many more.....

Heroes:

My parents, my sister, Eleanor Roosevelt and anyone who did not vote for Bush.

What to do on Labor Day Weekend when you have to work...

As much as I like not dressing up for work every day, sometimes the "Ok, now where am I working tomorrow" thing gets a bit tiresome.  I know, I know, this is the life that I chose, but what if I ...

I'm back, sorry I took a sabbatical..

Ok, so now I'm back. I still like the new locale, but shit, it is hard to meet people here if you don't hang out at the bars.  Now, I have met some people at the bars (I really sho...

Concerts, Midwest Style

Imagine a world in which when you attend a concert in a small venue, no one pushes to 'rush the stage,' as you leave your 'spot' to get another beer, you are assured that those strangers around you wi...

Midwesterners vs New Yorkers

Are there really any similarities? Probably not.  Well, except that we are both human beings (and Americans, but I think that some would even dare to disagree about that).  A ...

Brunch in the Midwest...

So, brunch in the Midwest....well it must include coffee (with oil on top, of course--oh, and a few grinds are always welcome and expected), something fried (in our case, calamari--but in most cases f...
