Roger is a bass player, however, he also plays guitar mandolin, piano and drums. He is also a singer and a songwriter. Having studied classical piano for several years and classical guitar. He studied bass from Paul Hardwood of Frank Marino's band Mahogany Rush. Spent a couple of years on drums and recently started learning mandolin and harmonica. He also took vocal training from a renowned teacher who was a member of the Russian symphony orchestra. You could say music is a big part of his life.

Roger is one of Montreals most sought after bass players having a great deal of both studio and stage experience. He is an enthusiastic and animated live performer with the technical skills to match noted in his signature arpeggio..s, alternate picking and thunderous approach to playing as can be heard in the bass intro Levitity for the song Avian. Check out the video on this page!!!

Born in Montreal, Quebec and raised in a musical household his mother is a classical pianist and his father is a blues harmonica player. His formal training began at the age of eight with classical piano which lasted for several years. He then took a shot at drums but as it turned out he fell in love with the strings. There is a guitar or bass always within arms reach in Roger's place. He has also had formal vocal training which is utilized in Triskalia harmonizing with Jason as well as singing lead on other numbers. Roger is also an accomplished song writer as he and Jason are the main song writers in Triskalia.

Roger and Ryan both left the "Aaron Amadeus Band" one week before forming Triskalia with Jason, while recording the bands second album. This was due to, too many constraints on his playing and management conflicts. However, they remain friends and Roger regards Aaron as an amazing song writer. To quote speed metal guitarist Pierre Robillard, whom Roger and Ryan also both played with for a couple of years in the past, "Roger plays bass with authority. " Roger has been playing Bass for about 25 years. His influences are mainly from the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal genre. His mentors are Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Terry Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, Bob Daisly of Ozzy Osbourne and Jimmy Bain of The Ronnie James Dio Band. Back in the eighties Roger also studied bass under Paul Hardwood of Frank Marino's band "Mahogany Rush". Rogers uses Washburn Bass's (in his words "I can't find anything as comfortable.") both electric and acoustic/electric, Ibanez Soundgear with active pick-ups (awesome sound) and Aria (also active) a Trace Elliot AH500X 500 watt amplifier, two Marshall 4X10 bass cabinets. When using picks he uses Jim Dunlop 1mm nylons and D'addario bass strings.

Along with playing bass Roger also plays guitar and is quite confident to say the least, as can be seen on songs like Cruelty and Tempest as well as The Hours, in which he plays almost all the guitar tracks including the lead. His biggest influences are Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Tony Iommi and Zakk Wylde.

Roger is currently playing, recording and on tour with his solo projects as well as with the alternative folk/rock band Triskalia and sitting in on sessions with various other artists.

Roger is also working with guitarist Bryan Donahue of Homicide and E-Force. Aside from Triskalia Roger plays bass for Judas Priest tribute band Painkiller. He is currently writing material for a solo CD and for a new Triskalia album due out later this year.

It should also be noted that Roger placed 1st winning the Bardic competition at the 2006 Echoes Magical Music Festival playing a solo Instrumental version of Tempest on an acoustic guitar. Winning a beautiful Djembe drum that he treasures.

The Hours

Waiting for the ours, waiting for our hour. A thousand lifetimes I'm with you again.

I love you now as I loved you then, come with me my lover and friend. I promised you that I'd stay till the end.

Your in my dreams, your in my visions. Your are the reason for living, everything I do, I do it for you.

Catherine your the one for me, it's so perfectly plain to see. Our souls were connected in lifetimes beyond.

I dream about you night after night and I have all of my life, memories of lives long ago.

Born again into this world, to find each other once again. I'll fight for you and die till the end.

Two spirits from the dawn of time, eons have come and gone. Love undying, to be apart is alone.

Catherine it's me, can you still see? Forever together across space and time. I found you again lover of mine.

Many of you write asking, "What happened I used to be on your friends list and now I am not?" Some time ago an accident happened and we accidently deleted this Myspace site. If you find you are missing or no longer a friend just re-add yourself and you'll be back on. Yes it is sad, lost lot's of friends, but made some new ones. We tried to find some of you but couldn't find all of you :)

Roger is proud to say he uses the following instruments, strings, amplifiers and musical products.

Influences:

Good music is hard to come by!!!

Roger's influences come from all forms of music from rock, country, bluegrass, blues, folk, metal and even classical. Roger even pulls from music of other cultures and is always opened to new ideas. As Roger puts it "Its always about the song and what fits."

As a Bassist his influneces are primarily Steve Harris, Terry Geezer Butler, John Entwistle, Dennis Dunaway, Bob Daisly, Jimmy Bain and many, many others. More recently players like Justin Chancellor, John Campbell, and others are equally inspiring.

Roger's influences on guitar are primarily Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, Zakk Wylde, Tony Iommi, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray.

As a song writer everything from Neil Young to Lynard Skynard (Strange to mix those two huh?) to Enya to Queensryche and Iron Maiden. I love it all and am inspired on many levels. I find something in everything. Traditional and contemporary. I listen to Loreena Mckennit one moment and Ozzy the next then I will switch to Sarah Brightman and on to Lamb of God.

Tempest is a song written about a young girl who took her own life sadly due to harassment and bullying from her peers for her spiritual beliefs. Following is a video from a live performance at the 2005 Montreal International Folk Festival of this song. Hope you enjoy it and follow the links after to the websites of the Tempest Smith Foundation.

Tempest

(Tempest Smith 1988-2001)

Words and music by: Roger C. Lymburner Copyright Litha (July) 2003.

So young and beautiful, so pure and true, the call came so early inlife to see beyond the veil.

You could see so much beauty in all, they could not see in you, werethey so afraid that you were what they could not be?

A child of nature, a spirit devine. You embraced what others cannotfind.

Soul searching across the divide, your memory shall be hounored forall time.

(Chorus) (Oh dear Temepest these tears are for you. My dear child words spokenjust for you.)

You decided to end the pain, for them you could not change. To fit intheir tiny box blind and all the same.

Death will eventually take us all, so sad you could not wait, now youwalk the other side free from all the hate.

I wish I could hold you and tell it will all be alright, now you jointhe list of nine million whose candles burn forever bright.

Sounds Like: Triskalia began as an alternative band in 2002 with influences from such divergent styles as Celtic, Folk, Rock, Jazz, Classical and Metal. Triskalia has an original ethereal sound all its own and has released its first full length CD in 2005 titled Myth, Magick & Mysteries. Currently Triskalia is writing and preparing to record their second CD for release later this year.
