THE BEST CROATIAN HARD & HEAVY BAND
Line up:
Pishta - vocals, guitar
Miha - lead guitar, vocals
Davor - drums, vocals
Majkl - bass, vocals
HARD TIME was founded at the end of 1991. Leaded by the charismatic frontman Pishta, hard hitting drummer Davor, crazy bass player Majkl, and the young guitar virtuoso Miha, they are the best Croatia has to offer in the hard & heavy genre. From straight rock..n..roll to heavy metal, with a touch of a bluesy boogie, punk attitude and some great ballads – all that combines into the original HARD TIME sound.
The kind of music they play critics most often call heavy rock. The band immediately started playing gigs all over Croatia and Slovenia, and earned themselves a record deal. Before the first album was released they shot two music videos, and one of them got on MTV's "Headbanger's ball". So, HARD TIME became the only Croatian band that ever appeared on this premiere hard rock show.
The first record "Kiss my ass and go to hell" (Dea Music) was out in 1993 and all the lyrics were in English. Placed highly on radio and TV charts, that record had four singles - music videos. That year, HARD TIME was voted the best band of the year by the readers of "Metal World" magazine. Highlights of the tour were - being one of the headliners of the biggest Croatian heavy metal festival "Metal-mania" and two successful tours in France covered by French national TV, radio and the press.
After a few line up changes the second album "Kad poludim..." (Croatia Records) was released in 1996 on a major label. This time lyrics were in Croatian (alternatively they were recorded in English) because of the domestic market. The album had four singles, which topped national charts, and music video for the song “Down at the bottom†got nominated for “Oktavijan video awardâ€. What HARD TIME is doing best is playing live, so constant touring never stops. The third French tour and the first Bosnian tour followed. They played the biggest Slovenian festival “Rock Otocecâ€, and the biggest biker meeting in Croatia “Biker daysâ€, where they played with Motorhead.
When HARD TIME began working on their third album, and released two singles, they got out of the studio to play a show with Cliff Williams of AC/DC and his Frozen Camels project. In the meantime the Serbian record company “Rock Express†released a compilation album “Through the hard times – the best of the best†for their market. The new bass player Dario joined the band and the new shows followed with the highlights being – HARD TIME playing with legendary Deep Purple, playing on “Born to be wild†festival in Slovenia, and another show with Motorhead. The band appeared in the music documentary film “When musicians shock youâ€.
After long preparations, and after six months in the studio, the third album “No. 3†(Croatia records) was released. For the first time there’s a duet on the record – with the young Croatian female star Emina Arapovic. While the band was recording the album, they received the invitation for the biggest hard & heavy European festival – Wacken Open Air – and in the summer 2005 they became the only Croatian band ever to appear there. With the new album, they released a music video shot in the United States, and the record was recognized by Fender, so HARD TIME received the Fender Mega Muzika award for the best hard rock album of 2006. The band recruited a young (20 years old!!!) guitar virtuoso Miha, and recorded live the big promotional concert in Zagreb. The touring for the new album continues, including a show with the legendary Saxon. Plans for the summer festivals and the first German tour are made...
