Lyrics My music comes from long involvement in the realms of what could be considered the hippie lifestyle. Traveling extensively through the nineties with the Grateful Dead scene, Rainbow gatherings, and later the Phish caravan exposed me to a lot of musical influences.
My first instrument was the flute. I learned to play them while making bamboo flutes for fun and trade. Later, I purchased a silver flute, and it is still one of my favorite instruments to play. Flutes are great to play at large drum circles, as they are the only thing that can cut through the thunder of several drums.
This interest in drum circle music led me to get familiar with drums, didjeridoos, kalimbas, shakers, bells, xylophones, mouth harps, and other assorted noise gizmos.
After attending the last Gathering I went to in 2000, I travelled to Oregon, and stayed in Ashland. There I met Josh Phagan, whose page you can check out through my Friends section. We had a great summer of making up songs. While staying there, I discovered some of the music software that was coming out, and got really interested in electronic music. I pieced together some tracks, and wrote rhymes for them. I wanted to do hip-hop from a hippie perspective.
Later, I learned the basics of the acoustic guitar and could play some folk and rock songs. I now have added and electric guitar to my arsenal.
I have a lot of fun partying and jamming with my friends, and am getting more serious about recording and collaborating with others.
In addition to my instruments, I currently use Reason, WireTap, and Garage Band to record and edit. I try to blend the different styles I have learned into an amalgamation of hip-hop, electronica, folk, psychedelic and tribal styles.
I have piles of demos and old recording to sift through, all the while trying to come up with something new and up to date. With some willpower and a little luck, I hope to have assembled this into a disc available by Fall 2007.
