About Me

Layout made by PrettyDeadRoses
Donna Colton and the Troublemakers are based in Central New York; Donna & Sam live about 30 minutes outside of Syracuse and Dave Salce lives in Ithaca. All were born here and have lived here most of their lives.Donna has been performing with various family members in duos and bands up until 1999 when she and Sam started playing gigs together locally. Donna has had many "real" jobs in between playing music; waitressing, cooking, sales clerk, telemarketer are a few things she's done to pay the bills. She always kept singing and started writing songs and making records when she met Sam. He had a basement studio that they recorded her first record in and kept working together from then on.Sam has had various band experiences and is well known as an audio engineer in the area. He had his own studio for a while called "Blue Jay Way' and that's when he cut back working his "real job" to part time. He's engineered many successful and award winning musical projects in various genres.Sam likes to fish, but only gets to do that about once a year when they go on vacation after the summer gigs wind down. He's got some fish tales for you.Dave Salce is a strange and wonderful character that has played with the Punk band, Blue Cheer and drummed for Chuck Berry at Madison Square Garden. He works at a company in Ithaca that distributes art books for exhibits nationwide. He lives with his dog, Bix and just got his first tatoo. Dave, not Bix.There is more to all of these stories, but we can't think of it all right now. We'll add as we go...

Sounds Like: The raspy, gritty voices of Susan Tedeschi, Melissa Etheridge and Bonnie Raitt mixed with the smoother, sweeter tones of Norah Jones. The songs are more traditional or old school pop with edges of acoustic rock, blues and country. We like our songs to be about something; mostly relationships, some political, always striving for universal images. Though the songs may come from personal experiences they need to be adaptable to listener experiences and open to interpretation. Tell me what it means to you...
