The Phoenix of the Opera Series

Books I, II, III, IV by Sadie Montgomery

I've always been a frustrated writer. However, in the past few years, since the release of the 2004 movie version of The Phantom of the Opera, I have become obsessed with the mythic and tragic possibilities of the many versions of the story. Suddenly I couldn't get enough. I read and saw any and all versions of the story of the mad, disfigured man who hid under the opera house. When I exhausted these, I turned to renditions of the story of the Beauty and the Beast, for I always saw it as the happy version of the Phantom's story. The fairy tale was cast in the mode of comedy, while the Phantom story was firmly rooted in tragedy.

I sat down and started writing a sequel to the Phantom's story, especially as conceived in the recent movie version (starring Gerard Butler). I wanted to delve into the resonances of the story, the psychology of the wounded genius, the myriad tensions among the characters. Once I began to write about Erik, I couldn't stop. The characters took on a life of their own, especially those of Erik and Meg, Christine's friend who pursues the Phantom in my version.

Four novels later, I still feel drawn to the characters and their evolving stories. But there are other novels to write. The Phoenix of the Opera is the first in a four-book series continuing the story of the Phantom of the Opera and the woman who dared to love him.

So, for those who really, really like to read sequels to the Phantom of the Opera. I have published the final book in the current series of four.

In order they are: The Phoenix of the Opera, Out of the Darkness: The Phantom's Journey, The Phantom's Opera, and Phantom Death. All four novels can be ordered at iUniverse.com, Amazon.com, and barnesandnoble.com.

They're available at Amazon.com,iUniverse.com and barnesandnoble.com.

Cheers, Sadie Montgomery

Coming Soon. A fifth novel in the Phoenix of the Opera series. Phantom Madness
