About Me

HAIL TO TRUE METAL!!! Deviancy is about forging your own path and deviating from the masses. It is about seperating yourself from the stagnant swamp that is the "mainstream". A solitary fire in a dark forest stands out more than the individual embers of the general collective blaze.Deviancy was formed back in 2001. Roger and I have been the only members. We recorded a three song demo in 2003, then Roger joined the air force and we have pretty much been inactive until recently. ............................................................ ............................................................ ..To buy our CD, Deviancy - Storms of Darkness ($5.oo with free US shipping) contact [email protected]. Sounds Like: We have been creating and evolving our sound for quite a while now. Some of the songs date back to 2001 when we first formed, yet we were able to enhance them structure wise to make the album sound cohesive with some of the newer songs which are sort of a step in a different direction, although still retain that "atmospheric death thrash" style that has become our sound. The songs on the full length "Storms of Darkness" are actually listed in the order that they were written. So a few listens will show the direction changes and progression in style. Although the older Deviancy material tends to incorporate a little more traditional old school death metal, which is good, the new material is more epic and structured with more emphasis on keeping the feel and atmosphere of the song going instead of just trying to be heavy and fast.( But granted, we are still heavy and fast!lml) I want to return to the old "glory days" of pioneering Heavy and Death metal bands and guitarists like Randy Rhoads and Chuck Schuldiner. I love the big epic solos combined with a changing rhythm section that makes guitarists like them so special and influential. Anyone can shred sweeps at 265 bpm if they practice long enough, but it takes a speacial musician to really grab ahold of the listener and make them feel the music as well as hear it.
