About Me

"Room" is Rachel's debut album.

This “raw” sounding solo cello album was produced by Lior Suliman & Tal Weiss and recorded using 16 vintage microphones capturing every possible cello and room sound. Everything was later mixed to preserve the true impact and full range of sounds made by a solo cello playing in a room.
In the album, she plays music by Ligeti, Kodaly, Britten, Bach, Reijseger and Uri Brener.
Grand prize winner of the 2001 Vriendenkrans Competition in Amsterdam, Rachel was a member of the Metro String Quartet from 1994-2000 and later joined Aviv Quartet in 2002. The quartet was the first prize winner of the Melbourne and Bordeaux competitions. Rachel is also principal cellist of Via Salzburg, an 11-piece chamber ensemble led by Mayumi Seiler.
"Rooms" is a series of albums capturing the rehearsal room "feel". The albums don't feature any "studio pyrotechnics" - just “raw” produced sounds.
