About Me

2008 and things continue skywards with new front man Joe. He has brought new energy and enthusiasm to the band and with an exciting busy schedule of gigs and festivals ahead, this looks to be another good year for everyone. Unlike a lot of bands, what you see is what you get with Joker. No studio recorded tracks or made up reviews by family and friends. Just genuine blokes, producing quality takes of the latest Indie tunes by bands such as Kasabian, Pigeon Detectives, Editors and Oasis. We have without doubt the best group of decent music loving fans and I can guarantee you will be back for more. For over five years we have been gigging hard and always trying to make the next gig better than the last. Rather than read endless attempts at trying to sell the band, why don’t you read some fan messages, checkout the live videos on our facebook page or better still come along to any of the upcoming gigs for the full experience ……
Thanks to the ever loyal Joker massive and we hope to see you all soon.

Joker are a four piece indie rock band. We play predominantly contemporary covers by the most popular bands including Artic Monkeys, Starsailor, Stereophonics, Kaiser Chiefs, Greenday and Snow Patrol as well as several original tracks mixed in. We endeavour to add a new track every few weeks to ensure the set remains up to date and fresh.

We have played every single venue in Plymouth capable of hosting live music and average 45-50 gigs per year throughout the south west of England and stretching as far as Southampton.

Some of the most memorable gigs to date include Lord Mayors day, the National fireworks competition gigs on the Hoe, playing in front of over 3,500 people at the Kingsbridge fairweek festival and the infamous three gigs in one day. However by far or best venue must be the Hub, Bath St. Plymouth’s only dedicated live music venue with amazing sound system, plasma screens, chill out rooms and cheap beer! What more could you ask for?

We regularly play at popular music venues including the Junction, Mutley Plain and The Brook, Plympton with both venues being full to capacity and queuing for those arriving late.

Our website has helped spread the word with in excess of 20,000 hits and rising. We have been reviewed several times by the Evening Herald and also featured in the launch of Plymouth’s Vanquish magazine and on local radio. Our fan base is constantly growing and we have gained recognition on international radio 1. Details of these reviews are on the website.

Our performance will typically include two sets lasting approximately 2 ½ hours. Our sound system comprises of 3,500 watts of power and includes stage lighting, dry ice and strobe effects.

In all the time we have been together we have been gigging virtually non stop and therefore we have only had the opportunity on one occasion to go into the studio. We were invited by Deep Blue Sound to help out with the final year student projects on their “re-record a classic” theme. As per their request we laid down “Live Forever” by Oasis which also can be heard on the site. We also have a live version of Spider (original track) with accompanying video recorded at the Hub. We have a number of original songs which are due to be recorded and released on an EP in the near future.

What else can be said to convince you to see these guys play…Well lets see, there’s the electric atmosphere they seem to create wherever they play. The energy they have during songs like Chelsea Dagger, I Predict a Riot, Dakota and I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor to name a few (not to mention the crowds reaction to all the songs played!)Every venue they play gets packed to the rafters but if you can make the journey to Kingsbridge for their performance during fair week then do so, you won’t be disappointed!!These guys wow the crowds time and time again, as one fan said in a recent review…”If you can stand and watch these guys for 2 hours without getting emotional then your remedy is simple, you need a soul implant” :
