KIN

First off, the two songs in our player (Follow The Blood and Never Equilibrium) are old songs. We have grown so much as musicians since these songs were written and recorded, and we wish that everyone who visits this profile take this into consideration. If you want to know what we sound like today, catch us live, at least until we get new material recorded. Thank you.
KIN is a metalband hailing from the city of Lillehammer in the county of Oppland, Norway. The band consists of two guitars, bass, drums and one lead vocalist, but we have been trying to incorporate other members as vocalists as well. We play original material with inspiration from various styles, ranging from bands such as Opeth, Dream Theater, In Flames, Lamb of God and Metallica, just to name a few.
When we write our music we try to arrange several styles of music into our own brand of metal, a method that often end up in songs with variation and length that supersedes todays standard of three and a half-minute long commercial songs. Our music can be found sporting everything from heavy in-your-face riffs to huge melodic landscapes to soft acoustic melodies.
Here on Myspace you can find songs from our last studio session, recorded in the winter and spring of 2008. The songs themselves are old material, and in the time that's gone by since these songs were written we've had member in and out of the band, and the members of the band have expanded their taste in music as well.
Clearly, such changes have affected the music. Our newer material goes in a heavier, punchier and slightly more technical direction as well as perfecting the musical style, but never losing the melodic and sometimes epic feeling. We have put much more emphasis on groove and a good rhythm than before, but never sacrificing melody. We believe we have a sound one instantly recognizes, with an individuality that separates us from other metalbands. The hardhitting riffs and strong melodies makes this something we believe most rock- and metalfans will welcome with open arms.
A brief history of KIN
KIN saw the light of day in 2003. Back then the starting members were Øyvin, Peder and Petter. Since then several other members have been in the band. As of May 2009, the lineup is Petter and Øyvin on guitars, Kent Rune on drums and Terje on vocals. Morten is helping us out on the bass. Also, our ex-drummer Gard is playing with us on the gig at Rockefeller on May 23rd (Kent Rune will be playing bass, Morten couldn't make it).
So far in KINian history there have been recorded two demos, one in 2005 and one in 2006 (none of these are available for sale). We recorded three songs in the spring of 2008 for an EP, two of them can be heard on our profile.
The main focus for the band these days is to write new songs and rehearse for upcoming live shows.
