YTF - Freedom of expression – Amnesty International, Aarhus, Denmark
Works for the right of expression
Works to lend a voice to those who are not heard.
Brings voices, opinions, and utterances into the public space.
Works for the right to disagree.
Our work consists of a broad range of action forms – exhibitions, performers, concerts, lectures etc. We fight for freedom of speech just by speaking out – or have others do it.
We work with what is distorted and strange, what is strange and incomprehensible, what is provocative, scandalous, and thought inspiring.
We wish to provide substance for reflection and wonder...
.................
The right to freedom of expression is man's inviolable right to speak, write, paint, play, and dance as he pleases.
Without freedom of expression, there is no free press, no free artists, no free writers, and no free musicians.
Without freedom of expression any opposition will be strangled.
Without the right to oppose, communication will be single-tracked, and counterarguments will never be heard.
Without freedom of expression there would be no Amnesty International.
Still freedom of expression is suppressed all over the world. From universal suppression of any form of free press, free speech and free possibility to communicate across national borders – to suppression of opinions and statements of minority groups.
YTF-Aarhus works with all sorts of cases concerning freedom of expression.
