Well I'm not really good at writing stuff about me,i mostly end up sounding really...boring...but I'll give it a go.I was born in Birmigham, UK on September 2nd 1988. Ever since I was little I was into music that generally people in my generation were never into and never really understood, at a time when people were into the over the top teenie princess pop melodrama like the spice girls...i knew the whole of meatloaf's bat outta hell album and studied NWA's lyics in immense detail. I have always been into music that just made sense, music that had soul, feeling and depth.
I've been playing instruments from a young age. I started leaning Dhol, Tabla, Dholak and Baja (Harmonium) off my ustd, Ustad Harjit Singh, Who has been a big inspiration to me and has given me invaluble teaching and guidence. But it is my Dad who has inspired me the most, He taught me not to me narrow minded and to understand and appreciate all aspects of not jus music but life...He also got me into the most amazing stykles of music ranging from Punjabi folk, Heavy metal, Classical, Country, Classical indian etc. At th moment i play Dhol, Tabla, Dholak, Baja, Tumbi, Guitar, Drum Kit and I've been learning Algozeh, Melodica (can't beat that Augustus Pablo sound), Bass and Dhad. I've performed proffesionally for the past 10 years at some pretty weird and wonderful places. Such as Royal Albert Hall, with Azaad Dhol Group, First bhangra group to ever perform there, and Birmnghams Bhangrafest...an AMAZING gig. I also perform with a local Jazz group playing dholak, dhol, tabla and dj'ing.
At the moment I am studying Music, Art and Graphic design at Hamstead Hall Sixth Form and hping to get into Leeds Collage of Music for Uni. I am also recording a 7 Piece Dub/Reggae Band, The Government, and I'll be posting some of the work on here..so keep checking back for updates.
