About Me

Frances Hunter is the writing team of sisters Mary Clare and Liz Clare. Their debut historical novel, To the Ends of the Earth: The Last Journey of Lewis & Clark (Blind Rabbit Press, 2006), won a Violet Crown Award, a silver "IPPY," and was a finalist for ForeWord's Book of the Year.
Their second novel, The Fairest Portion of the Globe, a novel of conspiracy, betrayal, and international intrigue on the early American frontier, will be published in February 2010.

What Reviewers Are Saying about To The Ends of the Earth:
"First-time novelist Hunter spins an imaginative tale of what might have happened during the last month of Lewis's life that is authentic in detail and shows both the flaws and the virtues of these legends of American history. ...Highly recommended." - Library Journal, September 15, 2006
"Full of gritty historical detail and raw imagery that rings true across the years. To The Ends of The Earth is historical fiction at its best, pulling the reader in and re-engaging the mind and imagination in the drama that occurred 200 years ago." - Midwest Book Review, September 2006
"Frances Hunter tells a thrilling tale ... This book has been endorsed by acclaimed western writer Elmer Kelton and received excellent reviews from many Lewis and Clark historians and writers." - North Dakota Horizons, Fall 2006
"The story is one for readers who love adventure, interesting settings, a little romance, blood and gore, and characters who live life largely ... a page turner until the end." - Historical Novels Review Online, November 2006
"To Liz and Mary Clare, sisters writing under the name of Frances Hunter, bravo and welcome to two bright new stars of Western fiction." - Western Writers of America's Roundup Magazine, December 2006Buy the book at Blind Rabbit Press or Amazon.com .
