MySpace Ticker Lyrics
Please do NOT, whatever you do, send me a friend request WITHOUT a brief message explaining why you're interested in me. Read that sentence again. Go on. I is a grrl who appreciates - and expects - good manners! I'm NOT here to collect 'friends' so y'all better have something worthwhile to bring to my table (and I don't just mean chocolate cake) in order to take up my time. If I accept your request and then hear nothing of note from you I'll DELETE you. I'm NOT here to make you look popular. And if your page is full of glitter graphics, fairy or Playboy Bunny et al twaddle I'm unlikely to be interested in you

Music:

Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Dolly Parton (her Wembley gig was fab!!), The Be Good Tanyas, Beth Orton, Fiona Apple, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Missy Higgins, Prince *swoon for his high heels*, Kate Bush, kd lang, Dixie Chicks, The The, Jill Barber

Movies:

Indie, queer, alternative, overseas. Love British social realism, especially Mike Leigh for his uniquely bittersweet take. Early Spike Lee for being so fierce and Pedro Almodovar for being bonkers in the way only queer Catholic Mediterraneans truly know how to be ;-)

Television:

Desperate Housewives, The L Word (yeah, I know. Tsk), 6 Feet Under, Question Time, Shameless, the news (BBC and C4), Nip/Tuck, Brothers & Sisters, Sex and the City, vintage Golden Girls. Most tv kills your brain cells - I HATE soaps and celebrity dancing/who gives a fuck shows - so why bother? Read instead

Books:

Writers who inspire, move and educate me. Augusten Burroughs, Sarah Waters, James Frey (yeah, I sooo know), Ali Smith, Jon Ronson, Maya Angelou, Carol Ann Duffy

Heroes:

Joe Panter, a butch les I had the honour of meeting recently. LGBTQ folk owe her their thanks for the path she has fiercly walked in all of our names.I also admire and respect - but do not hero worship - Oprah Winfrey, Ani DiFranco, Tony Benn, Andrea Dworkin, Frida Kahlo, Angelina Jolie, Rosa Parks, Eve Arnold, Lee Miller, Robert Mapplethorpe, the man who stood in front of the tank during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests
