Brian Conroy
My varied career path has included being a musician (recording & touring) and a Butlin's Redcoat, as well as working for The Children's Society, The Probation Service & currently, OCC's Social & Community Services, as a Community Development Officer. I have been performing on a professional and amateur basis for nearly 30 years. Most recently, I created the role of Dr William Gull in the showcase production of Curtain Call Production's brand new musical 'Jack!' (based on 'Jack The Ripper') written by David Staines & Robin Martin-Oliver (summer 2007). Previous performances include: Mr Sowerberry in 'Oliver!', Jesus in 'Godspell', Narrator in 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat', The voice of Audrey II in 'Little Shop of Horrors', as well as various other parts in over 30 productions.
In the early 80's, I was frontman for the Oxford-based band 'Replay'. Notable highlights were performances at Dingwalls (London) and the famous "Marquee" (when it was in Wardour street). In 1985 I recorded the single ‘Heartbreaker’ (Jest Records) with rock band Prowler, and joined them on their European tour. Following that, in 1986, I was part of the entertainments team at Butlin’s, after which I teamed up with a fellow Redcoat to perform in cabaret (including at The Savoy Hotel, London) as 'The Harmony Brothers'. In 1989, I was a founder-director of Witney-based "Wild Theatre Co", an integrated drama company which created opportunities for people with learning disabilities to experience performing on stage. The group’s successes included performances at The Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall London, as well as items on Central TV and BBC1’s Songs of Praise. In 1991, alongside actress Gaye Poole, I performed our self-penned two-hander 'Comedy and Song'. My Television appearances include: Inspector Morse (Central TV), Gulliver (Jim Henson/ Channel 4 films), Between the Lines (BBC), A Question of Guilt (Elmgate/BBC) and If you see God, tell him (BBC).
I also still compose my own music - when I have time!

My Interests

Happily married with 2 lovely children alongside whom I'm enjoying living my second childhood (I've joined the realms of "Embarassing Dad", of which I'm justly proud!). Recently studied with the OU and graduated with a BA(Hons)in Humanities with Music, A Diploma in Music and Certificate in Social Sciences. I have also spent time researching my family history and have traced back as far as the 1500's. It's an ongoing task that takes you down some unplanned paths, but I have met a lot of fascinating people along the way.
I have also been known to write the odd article for 'The Stage'

I'd like to meet:
