In June 2000 Tannic Veer started making music based solely on samples
and modified synthesis. Having had the ideas for the project in 1997,
it wasn’t until 2000 that he had the equipment to take it a bit further.
Rigorously experimental, the music drew inspiration from as diverse sources as early industrial music, EBM, synthpop, dark ambient and 80’s avant-garde electronic music.
As time went by a more defined and less chaotic sound developed and
the now typical sounds of Cultrate were emphasized: driving bass lines
and heavy drums, accompanied by the often eerie and surreal sounds
that embody the distinct Cultrate style.
At this state the project has evolved from its roots into a new being, an offspring of its past and the meeting with Luc van Zaar in 2004.
The first official demo, "Music For The Humanlike", was completed on December 31, 2006 - at the very end of the year.
It features 4 songs that represent a mere fraction of our immense production.
The ultra-poor quality they are presented in here really doesn't do the many layers of crisp sound any justice. These versions are only excerpts from the full songs.
The full track listing is:
Lair Of The Lonely Humanoid
Step Into The Tram
Shivers Of A God
Reception
A second demo is in the making. It will feature more songs than "Music For The Humanlike" and is likely to be released this fall.
The songs will be executed in both slower and faster tempo and takes yet another step away from the conventional.
Cultrate take no part in any cultural establishment.
