Well hello! This page has been kindly set up for us by a fan of the band and I've been given the opportunity to write a few words. All that you really need to know is that we had the best possible time together, and although not many people got a chance to find out, we were a great band .. and we're still great friends. No one died.Below is a load of press release nonsense from back in the day. I'll dig out some old photo's and see if we can upload some of the video's. We might even get round to writing something interesting on here, but I doubt it! I will say that if Naked Records hadn't done such a terrible job, the band might still be around now!
Enjoy,
Dean x

Velvet Jones is re-releasing their debut album 'Colin', a record that almost set them on the path to seminal status in the 90's UK Indie scene. This largely undiscovered gem undoubtedly would have been one of the breakthrough records of 1998, but was cruelly stopped in its tracks by a badly managed record company. The hype surrounding Velvet Jones at the time was massive as they were frequently lauded by industry heads as potential successors to high priests such as Suede, Radiohead, Placebo and Subcircus. i-D magazine hailed them as the saviors of indie-rock, and their music, a mutant lovechild of menacing post-punk and perverted Seventies glam, put punters and tipsters on full alert for a major breakthrough. After performances on TOTP and a double headline tour with The Dandy Warhol’s, it seemed Inevitable that success would follow. However their record company at the time went completely bust, leaving the band treading water, and without the financial backing required do their debut album justice, they never made the waves that had been expected. This glittering five-piece from London, England, have huge songs, huge sound and a huge following after massively successful tours of the UK, Germany, France, Canada, Japan and elsewhere. Ten years on from their world-wide debut a collection of 17 of the band’s most vital songs are being digitally released on a special bonus version of their debut album ‘Colin’ with Num Num Records. "An unsuspecting world is about to get a taste of their unique sweet and sour glam noir. Self-deprecating and good-humored, Velvet Jones cut a bemused contrast with their more solemn, egocentric indie brethren. Sit back and marvel to the record that should have won the 1998 BRIT for “Most Criminally overlooked album of the Year.†David Stubbs (Mojo, Q Magazine)
