Luca Aquino: trumpet and flugelhorn
From Italy, born in Benevento.
He devotes to the study of trumpet at the age of 19 as self-taught man to study then jazz with Lorenzo Federici and the boundless Giovanni Amato.
He took the Degree at the University of Naples Federico II.
He took part to the seminars by Paolo Fresu within “Città Spettacolo†of Benevento and the seminars by “Siena Jazz†under the guide of Marco Tamburini, Claudio Corvini, Pietro Leveratto and Paolino Dalla Porta and recorded with the Widequintet the album “Meet me in Sardinja†for the Splasc(h) Records. He attended a master class in instruments with the trumpeter Andrea Tofanelli.
He attended the seminars by “Nuoro Jazz†with Paolo Fresu, Tino Tracanna, Attilio Zanchi, Ettore Fioravanti, Roberto Cipelli, Bruno Tommaso e John Abercrombie, he tooks the scholarship and played at the festivals “Time in Jazz†in Berchidda and “Nuoro Jazz†where he recorded an album with the “Eight Caught Playing†with the partecipation of Tommaso Lama.
He redorded a DVD live with the american trumpet player Chuck Findley “Chuck Findley in Italy†and two free jazz albums with the “Poisonous Mushroomsâ€.
Actual PROJECTS, apart his quintet, are the various training with the saxophonist special friend Sergio Casale (the winner of award Massimo Urbani) with whom he plays hard-bop repertory, the Blue Project, the Funky Tunky from Rotterdam, the sextet by Leo Quartieri, the Special Free Duo and the Poisonous Muschrooms and a training with the saxophone player Camine Ianieri.
He plays also in the CB (Campobasso) Jazz Orchestra by Leo Quartieri and in the Orchestra by the trumpet player Gianni Ferreri.
Literally flashed by the music of the Supersilent, from the trumpeter Arve Henriksen, Jon Hassell, Paolo Vinaccia, Jan Bang, Eric Truffaz and Nills Petter Molvair and others, he dedicades to the study of electronic music making a group with Pasquale Pedicini, Raffaele Matta, Piero Antolini and others.
He has partecipated to numerous JAZZ FESTIVAL as: Berchidda Time in jazz, Nuoro jazz, Bussi jazz, Tollo jazz, Latina jazz, Brussels Jazz Marathon, Depistaggio OkToBeer JazzFestival, Alatri jazz, Bredo jazz festival, Onlosmakelijk festival, Sopron festival di Budapest, Meervaart Jazz, North Sea Jazz Festival, Rott in jazz, A Jazz day in Benevento, Jazz Art, Lugano jazz, Bratislava Jazz Day, Bucarest Europe jazz fest, Ronciglione jazz, Matese Jazz, Jazz Under the Castle in Bojnice, Morcone jazz, Ceppaloni jazz, Chiasso jazz ad others.
He had the occasion to COOPERATE in tours and occasionally with many famous jazz players as: Antonio Golino, Bob Mitzner, Tony Scott, Bob Franceschini, Chuck & Bob Findley, Pietro Condorelli, Hei Van Der Gaag, Philippe Milanta, Jan Oosthof, Luca Bulgarelli, Ramòn Valle, Fabrizio Bosso, Marco Tamburini, Jörg Brohm, Gianluca Renzi, Bruno Rousslet, Jòn Lewis, Salvatore Tranchini, Maurizio Rolli, Bepi D’Amato, Mario Raja, Gerard Klejn, Larry Franco, Andy Gravish and others.
He teaches Thelonious Monk of Campobasso and Music Land in Avellino.
It’s coming out the album at his name with title “You don’t know†recorded with the historic duch trumpet player Ack Van Rooyen, dpuble bass player Luca Bulgarelli, piano player Mirko Signorile and others.
Raffaele Matta: guitar
Born in Mandas (CA) 1974.
After local musicians experience in guitar studies, he left Italy and continued in San Francisco at the Bluebear American music school. He was at the Musicians Institute of Technology (GIT) of L.A. with Scot Henderson, Dan Gilbert, Dug Dopler, Art Renshaw and others... At the Europeand Musicians Institute of Pescara with Giuseppe Continenza and indian music (sitar) with Ganesh Mohan in Mumbai. Masterclasses at Umbria Jazz, Verona Jazz with Barry Harris, Città di Castello with Umberto Fiorentino, Fabio Zeppetella, Ramberto Ciammarughi, others with Pat Metheny, Scot Henderson, Frank Gambale and others. He does private courses with Umberto Fiorentino in Rome.
Gianni Salinetti: guitar
Born in Rome in 19/9/1979.
He begins to play guitar as a self taugh musician playing mostly blues and funk in the first years. After listening to the music of John Coltrane he decides to move to jazz and begin his studies with many imporatant musicians.
He studied with Dario Lapenna, Umberto Fiorentino, Fabio Zeppetella, Micheal Rosen. He attends seminars with John Abercrombie, Maurizio Gianmarco, Peter Bernstein and takes part for two years to the "Città di Castell Jazz Workshop" with Umberto Fiorentino, Fabio Zeppetella, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Massimo Moriconi, Maurizio Gianmarco, John Arnold.
In 2007 he begin to collaborate with PercentoMusica, important center of music and arts education in Rome.
He's a musician whose first objectives are the development of a own language and sound and the research in the contexts of experimental music, always dealing with the jazz language in his varius forms.
Marco De Tilla: upright bass
Upright bass and composer, born in Naples in 1977.
He studies with Rino Zurzolo, Aldo Vigorito, Furio Di Castri, Piero Leveratto e Ermanno Calzolari. He also attends many seminars with know musicians such as Dave Holland, Bruno Tommaso, Paul Jeffrey, Dick Oatts, Danilo Rea, Franco D’Andrea, Paolo Fresu, Maurizio Giammarco and many others.
As an author, he records his first album "A Little Present" with Francesco D’Errico, Giulio Martino, Roberto Schiano e Nicola De Luca in 2003 with the record label Splasc(H). The cover notes are written by Piero Leveratto, one of the most important italian upright bass players.
Latest releses are the albums "Slow Food Music 5" from Francesco D'Errico and "Il Giovanotto Matto" from Lorenzo Hengeller.
In 2003 the Marco De Tilla quartet wins the competition Salerno Music Doors, with Steve Grossman in the giury. The band wins the first award and the critic award.
He tours in Syria and Kossovo with Francesco D'Errico. He plays in many music festivals such as "Teano Jazz", with the Alberto D'Anna trio, "Pomigliano Jazz" with the IS Jazz Ensemble, Roberto Del Gaudio and Lorenzo Hellenger, "Pertosa Jazz" and the "Biennale of Giovani Artisti del Mediterraneo" with the IS Jazz Ensemble, "Marechiaro Jazz Festival" with Lorenzo Hellenger and Bruno De Filippi, "Premio Carosone" with Francesco D'Enrico and the Lorenzo Hellenger quintet.
Studend in the beginning, he began a collaboration with the ISMEZ (Istituto Nazionale per lo Sviluppo Musicale nel Mezzogiorno), for wich he did also two seminars.
He uses to play in many ensembles, even with important musicians such as Norma Winstone, Emanuele Cisi, David Alan Gross, Paolo Fresu, Lee Harper, Don Moye, Laurent Filipe, Ettore Fioravanti, Alberto D’Anna, Franco Coppola, Giovanni Amato, Salvatore Tranchini, Marco Sannini, Antonio Onorato, Francesco D'Errico, Paolo Innarella, Bruno De Filippi, Sergio Di Natale, Peppe La Pusata, Ivo Parlati, Giulio Martino, Gianni D’Argenzio, Roberto Schiano, Claudio Lugo, Michele Di Martino, Lorenzo Hengeller, Roberto Del Gaudio, Annibale Guarino, Joe Amoruso, Enzo Orefice, Valerio Virzo, Alberto Falco, Carlo Lomanto, Oscar Montalbano and many others.
Aldo Galasso: drums.
Born in Benevento on 26/3/1952
After many experiences in rock and blues music, he begins to deal with jazz in the first '80s. He takes part to seminars of Jimmy Cobb, Ray Mantilla, Elvin Jones, Peter Erskine, Dennis Chambers. He plays lots of live gigs in the jazz contesxt, expecially bebop and improvvisated music playing with many musicians. Among them Vittorio Pepe, Antonio Iasevoli, Vittorio Silvestri, Furio Di Castri, Michel Audisso, David Barittoni, Roberto Bellatalla, Michael Thieke, Riccardo Lay, Gavino Murgia, Claudio Corvini, Marcello Allulli, Chuck Findley, Sandro Satta, Abdullah Chhadeh. He has played in theater performances with dancer-coreograph Patrick King, with the artist Sukran Moral and the writers Emanuele Bevilaqua and Wu Ming 1.
He's a drummes with many experiences, always trying to explore the fields of research and experimental music.
