About Me

Originally from Rochester, New York, Keegan Wood had the honor of studying under Mark Kellogg (Principal Trombonist of the Rochester Philharmonic) while playing professionally in the jazz and commercial genres, releasing two CD’s with “MOTIVES”, and leading his own jazz quartet, “JADED”. Keegan studied trombone at the Oberlin Conservatory where he began investigating classical literature under the direction of James DeSano (former Principal of the Cleveland Orchestra) in addition to furthering his background in jazz with jazz giant, Robin Eubanks. After completing his undergraduate studies at Oberlin, Keegan became the first Trombone Artist Diploma student at the Oberlin Conservatory. During this time he was also performing with Sammy DeLeon, the Afrocubists, and freelancing in Cleveland. After his undergraduate studies, Keegan moved to Puerto Rico performing with giants such as Charlie Sepulveda, Tito Nieves, and “El Gran Combo”. Keegan has also shared the stage with Wycliffe Gordon, Eddie Palmieri, Benton Hess, Randy Brecker, Christian McBride, Patrick Williams, Justin DiCioccio, Roy Campbell, Tito Allen, Cano Estremeda, Tommy Olivencia, Hector Tricoche, Paquito Guzman, Viti Ruiz, Simon Perez, Al Martino, Giovanni Hidalgo, and Clark Terry. He is currently co-authoring a trombone pedagogical book with James DeSano while freelancing and teaching in the greater Los Angeles area.
