WRPI's Local Riot was started in January of 2006 by Gino D'Addario after realizing that there was no definitive home for local music on WRPI's program schedule. In its third season, it made the move to MySpace along with WRPI's Wednesday Night Live as a way to meet the most local talent possible.
As of May 6th, 2008, Gino D'Addario turned the show over to Russ Jones, who will continue to carry the local music torch at WRPI.
There is no genre restriction on WRPI's Local Riot. Anything will be played, as long as it meets FCC and WRPI regulations. Hell, we've played almost everything we've been sent so far.
