Drawing on her musical inspirations and life experiences, Tara C Taylor has found her voice. “My lyrics come from many different places within. All I have experienced in my life I have turned into poetry. I have seen tragedies happen to family and those I have loved, I have been beaten, I have been hurt by love, I have been scorned, I have dreamed and I have survived.â€
Tara C Taylor’s passionate lyrics are about idealistic romance, sexual prowling, and the pain that comes from the loss of love. Accompanying her melodic voice is a mix of hard guitars, passionate beats and melodic piano creating a passionate tale to reach out and touch the listeners’ minds and hearts.
Tara C Taylor (her self-titled EP) contains six songs and is due to be released in April 2007. It includes Chain, a poem-turned-song written by Tara’s younger sister Lori Taylor in 1988; Love Machine, written by Tara as a tongue in cheek look at sexual prowling for a one night stand; Lonely Days, which describes the pain Tara had after getting dumped by a man she loved. “I feel Lonely days will be the ultimate I got dumped song,†she laughs. Under the Midnight Sky is a romantic ideal about the ultimate power called love and letting go to experience it; Devil in Disguise looks at people who say anything to have a short-term relationship. The last track on the CD is a cover of Duran Duran’s The Chauffeur: “I wanted to pay tribute to the first band I saw live. I’m still a fan and I hope they will like this cover of their song.â€
The EP was mixed by Russell and mastered by Lin Gardiner (Super G Music) in January 2007.
