In life I was the "World's Greatest Entertainer" Al Jolson. I reigned supreme at the Winter Garden Theatre on New York City's Broadway from 1910 until the 1930's. I appeared in the very first "Talkie" (that's a movie with sound to you children.) The film was called "The Jazz Singer" (later re-made starring Neil Diamond during the '70's.)
In the late 1940's after being away from the public for quite sometime, I made a comeback in show-biz. I appeared on television and radio and recorded numerous albums. In 1945, I supervised on a film about my life titled "The Jolson Story" staring Larry Parks. Larry was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the film. When I passed away in 1950, All the lights were shut down on Broadway in remeberence of my great career.
