Band Members: KOTO-GO! consists of: Hiroko Sue - a renowned koto artist, and one of only a handful of players residing in the UK. She has performed extensively as a soloist playing classical Japanese music, and her repertoire now includes a number of traditional tunes and original compositions inspired by her time in Wales . Her love for improvisation w has led to her playing the koto in a way not heard before. Hiroko is a true innovator – rooted in her tradition but not afraid to experiment in groundbreaking new ways. Steve Garrett has a background in blues and jazz, and travelled widely, picking up musical ideas and influences along the way and playing in a wide variety of musical contexts and combinations. His approach to the guitar mirrors that of Hiroko to the koto – using the instrument to create mesmerising sound-pictures and to express emotion by combining sensitivity and dexterity with a consistent sense of ‘groove’.
