I attended Monkland State School then followed on to Gympie State High where I played softball, basketball & a bit of hockey, plus very little study. When I reached the ripe ol.. age of 15 (haha) my Dad said I could leave school only if I had a job to attend...so frantically I searched for work....found my first job cookin' yea!! fish 'n'chips but I earned 15 bucks @ week..that was good pay back then...cigs were only 17c for a pack of 20.
When I turned 18 I took(ran) off to Brisbane & found work at Arnotts Biscuits Factory. I stayed there for a while, & then decided to do a bit of travelling, went off to Mackay where I learnt how to pour beer worked there for a couple of months & ended up back in Brissy. I was working at the Treasurey Hotel & met a dude from Sydney & he asked me to come down there, so all this sounded too good, needless to say I quit the job packed up & went off to the bright lights. Spent a year and a half working at the old Millers Hotel in Fairfield, then my Dad passed away, so I went home for 3 weeks. I came back to Sydney but couldn't settle back in here so moved back to Brisbane & got work there at The Stanley Hotel.
I met a guy there got engaged & moved to Townsville in 1981, got work there in Hotels, but things didn't work out & I moved back to Gympie, stayed there 'til 86. Moved back to the bright lights of Sydney & found work here in the hospitality industry.
