G rowing up the youngest of seven kids would be hard enough, but when I was two years old my mom divorced my father -- and then married a widower with four kids. Yes,...there were eleven children! You could say, I was living "Yours, Mine and Ours" without the "ours". Believe me,...it was a circus!
Being the most expressive of all the children, I danced all around and sang at the top of my lungs, constantly - I had absolutely no inhibitions (boy, what I wouldn't do to lose my self-consciousness now!). When my parents and family had enough of my expressions of joy, I would be sent away to be quiet and "out of the way".
So, I began to draw and write. I had a deep need to express myself any way I could. Writing came naturally to me, and I excelled in two of the "R's" ("rithmatic" did NOT come naturally).
I went on to study Communications with a Journalism emphasis in College. But my real passion was poetry. Coming from a non-artistic, non-musical Norwegian family,...I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would ever put my poems to music -- but, I did.
I began working with composers, while studying acting in L.A., to turn my poems into lyrics. Then, one day I met and married the musician of my dreams, and he encouraged me to compose my own music -- and, I did.
So, here I am, a songwriter who sings, dances and acts. I hope you enjoy some of my work (without any dancing or acting ;-).
