THAT'S WHEN MICROWAVES STARTED GETTING POPULAR!
I love food! I've always loved the unique preparation of homecooking foods. I'm not to crazy about the frozen foods. I'd rather cook by scratch and enjoy the richness of the love put into foods. When I was very young, my grandmother Sara would be in the kitchen cooking from scratch. She always used butter, not margarine! There was no cheating. Everything was cut, prepped and cooked with no rush in the world. There were so many techniques that I've learned and means a lot to me now. There were no microwaves in the 20's. There were no cheating was in the kitchen. Grandmother Sara would prepare deserts every other day from scratch. She's made Pound, 7up, Chocolate, Strawberry and Butter cakes every Saturday morning to last for the week. Now I look back and think we really have it made today? There are microwaves to help cheat with shortcuts for defrosting meats. Back then, meats were thawed out all day for the prepping of a meal that evening. Grandmother would always use Butter. Never hardly margarine. She'd use lots of pork (fat) for dishes such as Greens, String Beans, Cornbread, Mashed Potatoes and Fried Okra! There was seasoning...Not just salt and pepper, there was true heavy seasoning! Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Lawry's Seasoning Salt, Sage, Cumin, Cinnammon, Nutmeg, Paprika, Creole Seasoning, Jerk Seasonings.Now that I am old enough to travel and enjoy the different textures of meals in restaurants, I am now a food critic! I will come to your town and taste your textures and flavors. I also rate foods from 1-10! This is my created website of me and my husbands experiences of foods, service and locations.
