Rosamund was born January 27, 1979 in to a family of talented performers: her mother (Caroline) is an established opera singer and her father (Julian) is a concert violinist. She is an only child and grew up in West London, although they did move around quite a bit when she was young.Many friends and family call her 'Ros'. With such musical parents, it is not surprising that Rosamund is also talented on the Piano and Cello. She went to boarding school in Bristol and, at 16, joined the National Youth Theatre. After her A-levels, she studied English Literature at Wadham College, Oxford. She had the occasion to spend some time with Chelsea Clinton during her time at Oxford. English born Rosamund started her acting career on the stage playing lead roles in many popular productions at the Oxford Playhouse. Her theatre talents also took her to faraway Tokyo in productions of The Taming of the Shrew and Macbeth. With many successes under her belt, Pike moved into the world of television and starred in several successful mini-dramas, which were as popular in the US as they were in the UK.Her big break came when she was cast as Miranda Frost in the 20th Bond film, Die Another Day. Her fellow Bond girl is Halle Berry. Rosamund had never actually seen a Bond Movie until she was cast. She graduated from college during the filming of Die Another Day. She learned the sport of fencing for her role as Miranda Frost. Rosamund on her Bond Character named Miranda Frost - "She would rather go it alone and doesn't quite approve of Bond's methods. He seems to be all fire, where she's all coolness and reserve. And then she keeps showing different sides all the way through. It's a lot of fun." She has said, "Everyone asks me about the love scene with Pierce Brosnan, but it really didn't feel sexy at the time. You have to wear all this really un-sexy equipment in order to preserve your modesty." She started her own makeup collection based on Miranda Frost, with such glosses as Iced Lilac and Bond Black. Rosamund is featured on the 'Die Another Day' DVD with a thoroughly insightful and entertaining commentary track, in which she offers all her thoughts on the grueling shoot and the exciting perks of becoming the latest Bond girl. The 2003 MTV movie awards nominated Rosamund in the 'Best Trans-Atlantic Breakthrough Performance' along with Orlando Bloom, Colin Farrell, Jude Law, & Keira Knightly. Ros considers herself a very private person who values a long career as an actress rather than just being a celebrity. She was cast in lead role in the hit theatre production of 'Hitchcock Blonde'. The play opened in the West End of London in the Spring of 2003 to rave reviews. The praise was especially noticeable for Rosamund's performance, which included a lengthy and courageous nude scene. Despite her uninhibited performance on stage, Rosamund has categorically stated that she would never pose nude for a men's magazine. The difference being that she didn't want anyone to 'have' her image and take it home with them. Whereas the stage nudity was an artistic endeavor that would only exist in people's memories.
