Bucks Burnett was born in Dallas, Texas in October 1958, although he considers his hometown to be Mena, Arkansas. He was band leader and main songwriter for The Volares, a psychedelic/melodic rock band formed with friends Paul Averitt (Texas) and Dare Mason (Britain) from 1996 to 2006. The Volares released two full length CDs and one CD single. "I've always been more into bands than solo artists, but the time seems right to strip everything down to its most basic elements. With The Volares I wanted to make great guitar driven music. Now I just want to write the greatest lyrics I possibly can, backed up with the most minimal music possible. Although I've been a major Dylan fan since the mid-70's, I heard Blood On The Tracks for the first time in the Summer of 2006. That first listen pretty much destroyed me, and glued me back together again. Right now it feels like everything I ever do from this point on will be measured by the emotion of that album and what I feel when I listen to it. If I can't make extremely powerful, moving poetic music, I won't put it out."Bucks has begun recording his solo debut, Patriotic To Another Planet, with Dallas pop producer and guru Salim Nourallah.
