The “Rakes” The Best of Irish /Celtic Traditional musicThe “Rakes” are Tommy Grills guitar,mandolin vocals and Jonathan Miller Fiddle, mandolin vocals. The “Rakes” perform the best of the Dubliners, Ralph McTell, Dougie MacClean, Luka Bloom, and more. They pride themselves on solid harmonies and great guitar work.MTommy Grills is an award winning guitarist/vocalist from NY who has played professionally for over 30 years. Tom is 3rd generation Irish whose clan hails from The Dingle Peninsula Co. Kerry Ireland. His Great grandfather was a fiddler who played at local dances in Ionia. NY Tom has played with some legendary Blues musicians like James Cotton and Nappy Brown and Valley fav Big Pete Pearson. Tommy discovered Irish music some years back and has incorporated Celtic/Irish rhythms into his bag of Tricks. Tommy provides not only lead singing but backup as well; blending his voice ’ bringing to mind the great harmonies of the Dubliners. He is also one of the top guitarists in the state bringing his strong rhythms and great lead playing to the sound of the “Rakes”Chris Strone is a great bassist from Long Island NY he studied w/ The Great Ray Brown. Chris has played with many famous musicians including Matt Murphy of Blues Brothers fame. Billy Parker regarded as one of the top Mandolin players alos performs with the Rakes.
