YOU KNOW ITS SHADYIntroducing the hottest new sensation to hit the music game “Shadyâ€. A brand new artist, with exceptional talent from Jamaica now residing in Brooklyn, NY. At only 19 years of age with raw talent as a vocalist and songwriter in Reggae Dancehall, Shady is unstoppable.Shady has proven herself as a female artist who is here to make history in a male dominant genre of music.Born and raised in Montego Bay Jamaica and the oldest of two from her mother who is a singer/songwriter herself, Shady was destined for music. At a young age she began writing her own songs and recording music at any given chance. Although destiny took a detour at 18 when her family decided to move to America. Music was the last thing on her mind. The new goal was to work hard and help support her family to make it in this new life.
Becoming familiar with her neighborhood Canarsie Brooklyn, she began making new friends and learned that literally two doors down from where she lived was an upcoming record label “Studio 100â€. Shady took this as a sign to continue music. She decided to give her CD that was recorded in Jamaica to Studio 100’s engineer. Making a big impression to the label they decided to make Shady their first female artist. With only being in the U.S.A. for less than one year “Straight from Yard†this proves that music is her destiny. With a new life and a new career Shady is determined to make her mark in the music industry."I once read that the first thing you need to have in becoming a good musician is to have a dream. I had mine at an early age where I was exposed to reggae music and a few other different varieties of other genres of music. I found myself singing to the songs that I liked and tried to sound like the artist; I definitely liked the feeling and was fascinated by my undiscovered ability to sing. I give respect to all my classmates from high school that saw the star in me before I did, because they encouraged and cheered me on even when I was shy and unsure of myself. Some found it hard to accept this notion I had of doing music and was totally against it and they didn’t fail to remind me how male dominated it was and how women were treated. I had my dream, I found my true talent and I am now on a mission. I cherish my ability to fascinate others with my gift of song and no other could compare to the feeling I get when I get my emotions across to my listeners, and they feel it too. Music is my life, my joy, my addiction."
