Band Biography
Facing the Sun came together as a band in 2007 when some like-minded, blood thirsty folk decided that they wanted to redefine what metal is today. The drummer and singularity known as J, had a vision for this group for nearly a decade. After playing and touring with multiple bands over 14 years, he knew what he had to do. It finally all came together, when rising from his charred abode, through the ashes (literally, our house and studio burned to nothing), came Facing the Sun.
J united with his demonic brother, Kevin, to seek hellish vocals, and sheer terror on the microphone. He had also insisted, that this project could not proceed without the shredding talents of one Joe Cerbone. Also at the forefront of the band, was the rigid thrash rhythms of co-founder Steve LoGrasso. The four would then unite to bring metal to the people. One might reflect upon the mission statement of two wise brothers, "We're on a mission from God." Though, our inspiration came a bit further south ... Shortly after the song writing birthed melodic streams of death and thrash, the band quickly recruited Pete Diekmann on bass, to seek the low end that metal needs ...
The influences fueling the fire have come from all corners, metal, jazz, blues, classical ... you can hear it all in Facing the Sun's music.
And so metal was brought to the people ... and there was darkness across the land.
Facing the Sun began playing out, sharing the stage with all spectrums of music and metal. Over the course of the past year, bassist Pete Diekmann and guitarist Steve LoGrasso departed the band, in search of alternate musical projects. Facing the Sun immediately recruited the rhythm guitar shredding of Rico Colon. From here, the band ventured out once again, playing shows throughout New York.
In demand, at multiple venues, FTS brought on the low-end licks of Brian Cushing on bass. The band has now ventured out, playing out of NY, into Pennsylvania, Ohio, and the eastern seaboard.
And so with brutal riffs composed of all fields of death, thrash, and old school metal, here stands Facing the Sun.
Much like Prometheus, we have brought the inferno ...
