At 19, Louise Rutkowski was signed to CBS Records with Glaswegian band SUNSET GUN.
However, it is her work with cult independent label 4AD RECORDS for which she is best known.
As part of the collective THIS MORTAL COIL, Louise's disintinctive voice can be heard on the seminal "Filigree and Shadow" and "Blood" albums, and as lead vocalist on THE HOPE BLISTER's "Smile's OK" album.
Louise also performed in THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS, a trio with composer CRAIG ARMSTRONG and playwrite PETER ARNOTT, signed to INTERSCOPE RECORDS in the US. This resulted in the highly regarded album "Hope" which included tracks produced by DAVE STEWART and NELLEE HOOPER.
Following this, she released a six track EP featuring the songs of RANDY NEWMAN, backed up by live shows in and around England, as well as a residency at Edinburgh Festival.
