The name "Dear (Your Name Here)" reflects the personal level on which the songs are written, generally as a message directed at a single person, but intended to have application in many lives. The band's goal is to connect with people on a truly personal level, having a positive impact on the lives of people around the world. Sincerity is at the core of the writing; deep thoughts from a deep mind.
In July 2006, Dear (Your Name Here) headed to Winterland Studios in Minneapolis, MN, with producer Brian Johnson (Coldplay, Life House, Elvis Costello) to record their debut CD, entitled "A Speck of White". The album features 10 intricately scribed, acoustic-based tracks written by Joel French. The CD was released early in 2007.
In spring 2007, Dear (Your Name Here) hit the road acoustically, touring all of Canada thoroughly, as well as a shorter stint in the United States. The tour was the beginning of a tireless rampage across the continent for recognition, not only for the music, but also for the strong values he clings to incessantly.
Dear (Your Name Here)'s dynamic performances are often laced with shared thoughts; ways to make the world a better place for everyone. The band is an official artist associate of World Vision, helping to fight poverty on a global scale, a task none too small; but a problem that will never be solved if nothing is ever done about it. Though his passion for music is great, it is heavily outweighed by a passion for needy people of the world. It is a wonder that the two can be combined into one to form a long-standing fight against poverty.
