First and formost, I am a single father of six-year old, Sakura Caridad Garcia-Yuki. She is a first grader at John Morse Elementary. I am a full time student of music at California State University Sacramento. Under the direction of Dr. Daniel Kennedy, (percusson studies) and Dr. Stephen Blumberg (composition). My educational goals have no end. After I graduate from Sac State, I plan on continuing my studies into ethnomusicology. I want to focus my graduate studies on the music of the Eastern region of Cuba and eventually into Haiti. Given the current political situation in the world today, many of the cultural traditions are at risk of elimination by the military industrial complex. It is impertinent that these cultural studies survive to maintain a multicultural society and acceptance of different cultures. It is my liffelong commitment to learn, teach and assist in the preservation of such musical traditions.
