San Antonio, Texas 1982... John had graduated from high school and in the fall of 1981 had rushed out to buy the newly re-formed King Crimson album "Discipline." Expecting something more along the line of "Red", the album made an odd impression, but Bubba called and said to listen to it again. Further listening confirmed the genius of this new music, a music unlike anything I'd ever experienced before or after...
I got it!!
Rusty from Apple records introduced me to Dan in early/spring of 1982 as another confirmed Crim-head and suggested we get together and play music. We did. I had an idea we could do some interlocking guitar stuff ala' Discipline. Turns out Dan could also make lots of noises and feedback! So Entropics was formed.
We played a few shows as a duet; Scott and Will came out to the Bonham to check out our set and signed on as bass and drum, and the rest is, as we say, "history."
The group gigged for 3 months, got some positive press and promptly disbanded
Later we came back to record some of the tunes proper at Toby Torres' ("Become a Recording Star Today") Studio on South Presa.
Tracks one and two were recorded at Entropics World Headquarters (now a Self-Storage) on VanDiver at Austin Highway using two mics direct into a cassette recorder; tracks 3 and 4 were recorded at Toby Torres'.
