About Me

2008-2009 Season marks the 32nd anniversary of Rogue Opera , whose mission is to present high-quality opera to regional audiences, to train young performers and to direct its resources into the education and enrichment of our youth and community. With over 960 school and main stage performance, Rogue Opera has become a treasure in the arts community and an integral part of southern Oregon's cultural community. Rogue Opera is a proud member of OPERA America .
Rogue Opera
's 2008-2009 Season activities include:
--Operafest Fundraising Luncheon at the Rogue Valley Country Club, Wednesday November 19, 2008.
--"Opera in the Schools~ OperAntics!", a traveling program presented over 100 times for 20,000 students.
--"Voices from the Valley Opera Scenes Concerts" March 8 at Southern Oregon University Recital Hall and March 7 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford.
--Pucinni's La Bohème in Medford and Grants Pass, Oregon, May 3, 8 and 10, 2009.
--"Tickets for Youth" program, which provides 250 free tickets a year for children and families through schools and community organizations.
--Southern Oregon University and Rogue Opera collaborations:
--"The Complete Singer Training Series", November 22 & 23, 2008 led by Ann Baltz founder and director of OperaWorks in Los Angeles.
--"Opera Workshop", a nine-week program directed by Artistic Director Willene Gunn, open to professional and pre-professional singers in the community and voice students from SOU.
--"Behind the Scenes Youth Mentoring Program", a mentoring program in musical/drama and technical skills for area high school and college students during La Bohème.
