Oregon Literacy

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Literate communities thrive.
Oregon Literacy supports and works with students, volunteer tutors and literacy programs to advance literacy throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. Oregon Literacy is the only statewide nonprofit connecting learners of all ages with the resources they need. In 2006, we celebrated forty years of service to our communities!
Mission: Our mission is to advance literacy through access, advocacy and alliances. We do this because knowledge is empowering and literacy should be a right for all.
Key Services:
Literacy Line: 1-800-322-8715
This toll-free hotline connects those who need help in the areas of reading, writing, speaking English, citizenship and more with local programs and volunteers who can help.
Tutor HelpLine and Literacy Resource Center
These support volunteer tutors and local literacy programs by providing an online orientation, searchable resource database, monthly newsletter and toll free support line.
Easy to Read Voting Guide
Through a partnership with the League of Women Voters of Oregon and Oregon Advocacy Center, the guide helps disenfranchised voters such as those with limited literacy skills and cognitive disabilities access high quality, unbiased, nonpartisan voting information.
Community Literacy Program Assistance
Through publications, training and ongoing support we help build and maintain strong literacy programs.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Initiative
In partnership with the Oregon Community Foundation Latino Partnership Project, the ESOL Initiative has helped to build six new ESOL programs in high need areas in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties.
