Internationally acclaimed as one of racing’s most beautiful settings, Arlington Park hosted its inaugural meet in 1927 and re-opened its doors in 1989 after a devastating fire engulfed the clubhouse four years earlier. As home to the world’s first million-dollar race, the Arlington Million, Arlington features a 1 1/8-mile main track, a one-mile turf course and a five-furlong training track. Arlington experienced a historic first in 2002 as the suburban Chicago track hosted its first-ever Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. Arlington holds the distinction of being the first track in the midwest to install a synthetic racing surface, which will take place during the winter of 2007. Thoroughbred racing is normally held at Arlington from mid spring into autumn.
