Syrus was formed in April 2005 by Chris (bass), Much (drums), Mikey (vox), Nytram (guitar) and Rainer (guitar). The band’s objective was the creation of Thrashmetal with Jazz and Funk influences. The influences remained only an objective, which was the reason Rainer left the band soon afterwards. In summer 2005 Raffael (guitar) joined the band. Syrus was complete again. After these first line-up problems the band redefined its target: playing an own kind of Thrash-/Deathmetal.
In spring 2006 Syrus had finished 6 songs; 2 of them were eliminated however. After all, this wasn’t the best motivation and the new member left the band due to prior engagements. Chris, Much, Mikey and Nytram were forced to continue without 2nd guitarist again.
Despite of this huge amount of difficulties the outcomes of Syrus’ first year were 6 nearly finished songs and promising concepts for the future. The search for a second guitarist also got into a new round. Vijay (guitar), a new guy with great ambition, was engaged.
Nevertheless, in summer 2006 the musicians nearly separated. The motivation of most members had been subzero; nothing had seemed to run in the right way. Vijay (guitar) had been a good guitar player, but unfortunately he hadn’t been experienced enough. Therefore he had to leave for the benefit of Eligio (guitar), who finally really seemed to be the missing link.
In this line-up Syrus practiced for the first gig in February 2007 – as opener with Vital Remains, Godphobia and others, which became a huge success for the band. Hard work on the songs and strenuous band-internal conflicts made the second gig with In Slumber possible, but at the end of summer Much (drums) finally had to leave the band, due to different views. The prospect of being without drummer was frustrating, but fortune smiled on Syrus. Alex joined in September 2007, directly after Much’s departure. Again, hard work had to be done. But the results speak for themselves. The sound is greater than ever before and in the year 2008 the band won the first three rounds of the "local-heroes"-bandcontest and got into the final.
Since December 2008 their first Demo-CD "My frist murder" containing 4 of their greatest songs is available.
