I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Where to begin...I was a middle dweller in High School. Not popular, but not without friends either. I soon felt the insatiable urge to travel. First stop; Germany, for Foreign Student Exchange. Next stop? ARMY! This is where I did most of my growing up. I spent my first year in Korea and my next in Texas. Then back to the real world where I decided to go to Florida State University and get my BA in International Affairs and a minor in Chinese language.(if I hear "say something in Chinese!" one more time I'm gonna shoot myself!) In college is where I met my wife Jeannine. (See friends) I was lucky enough to be friends with her for years before ever dating. We went to Colombia together, Puerto Rico, Germany, France, and England. Hey, I told you...insatiable urge to travel. Luckily she was willing to go hang with me on my journeys. I also spent a month in Beijing doing an intensive language program. I will definitely be going back there some time in the future. I know you're all awaiting the exciting conclusion. Well, I went into the Army again, this time as an officer. I got sent to Korea and thought I would be there a while...but instead I got an all expenses paid trip to Sunny Iraq. So I spent a year in a lovely little town called Ramadi, where the sunsets are only rivaled in their beauty by the sounds of incoming rockets and mortars. Ahhh, paradise. Now I am in even MORE beautiful Colorado Springs. Seriously, this place is awesome. I love it here and urge you all to visit. Don't all come at once though, I only have one guest bedroom...

My Interests

Did I mention I like to travel? I have this fascination with other cultures. If I wanted to get really deep I would tell you it probably stems from my own lack of cultural identity. Being a "European Mutt" doesn't exactly instill in me a great sense of pride for some reason. My specific area of concentration is Asia. I think just because the culture is so different from my own. I was first exposed to it when I was 18 and sent to live there compliments of the Army. I was intrueged and decided that Asia was what I wanted to study. More specifically China. I am big into music too. I listen to pretty much anything as long as it sounds good to me and it fits my mood. As far as TV and movies...Law and Order(any of them), Dead Like Me, CSI(all except Miami), and of course Family Guy. One of my biggest interests is obviously my wife too. I also love to argue...debate, dance in clubs, and the ever generic "hang with friends". That's about it.

I'd like to meet:

Books:

To say I'm an avid reader would not only be an exaggeration, but a blasphemous lie. I read The Economist and Foreign Policy a lot since they are such intelligent magazines and I have a subscription. I'm almost finished up with a book called "Achilles in Vietnam" It's really interesting b/c it talks about the similarities of PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder) found in both Achilles in the Illiad and vets of the Vietnam War.
