Klondike's North Forty

About Me

Myspace Layouts by Pimp-My-Profile.com

Klondike's North Forty are an erstwhile trio (or is it a quartet?), led by "Rock God" and Australian Music Hall of Famer Chris "Klondike" Masuak, hotwired by an itinerant and miscreant mob of extremely capable characters and joined variously by Brothers Matt Sulman, Scott Morgan and John Rooney and Sister Angie Pepper.
Last Century and after nearly two decades of consistent touring (Radio Birdman, The Hitmen, The New Christs, The Screaming Tribesmen, and Hitmen DTK) Chris "Klondike" Masuak was sick in his heart from the absurdity of "it all". He bought a sweet little Vibrolux that he could carry in one hand while carrying nearly any old guitar in the other (i.e. Fender/Robin), formed the Juke Savages, and released two inspired CD's on the Phantom label.
Critically acclaimed, but "too rocky" for the blues purists and "too bluesy" for the degenerating Australian rock circuit, that trio ran aground in the sea of pretentious and precious posturing that characterised the scene.
Klondike settled into life as a Naturopath, lecturer, and wage-slave, tempered by the joys of being "Dad".
With the "reformation" of Radio Birdman, music reasserted its influence and the songs began to flow. There followed a period of experimentation and development leading to a fortuitous coming together of old friends and the formation of "Klondike's North Forty".
Still "too rocky" for some and "too bluesy" for others, KN40 is even more the invigorating musical marriage of friends and kindred spirits.
Oh yeah...and they turned the volume up alarmingly.

Chris "Klondike" Masuak

The reclusive Masuak carries one of Australian Rock n' Roll's proudest pedigrees, citing membership in Radio Birdman (recently inducted into The Australian Music Hall of Fame), The Hitmen, The Screaming Tribesmen, The Juke Savages, and now Klondike's North Forty. He's so cool!

"Red" Porter

Red came on board way the hell back in the Juke Savage days. Actually, no one knows how he does what he does. And if we found out we'd be hosed for sure. He's great. 'Nuff sed!

Matt Sulman

Matt's got a great set of pipes. We wish he'd turn up for more rehearsals but he lives so damn far away. Like in another state. He's still in the band.

Drummers...yeah.

Well, we've had a few. Gerard Presland, Gye Bennets, Chubby...

They've all been wicked great but let's face it...Klondike and Red are miserable, offensive people.

Uncle Dave Alexander (of The Reluctant Friends of Steve and the late, great Flaming Barstools) is clobbering the skins these days. We like him a lot!

Influences: Classic guitar tones through overdriven vintage amps, pop sensibility, any dopey idea that one can imagine. A collison of John Fogerty, Johnny Winter, Buck Dharma, Fred "Sonic" Smith, Ross the Boss, Jeff Beck, and the Ventures. Kinda like what you got into it for in the first place.
Sounds Like: A swathe of Fender guitars alarmingly filtered through a psychosurf dizbuster. 'kin great sounds. We like it. Hope you do too!
Record Label: I94, of course. Talk to The Barman.
Type of Label: Major
