Backwater Burial was formed deep within the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky when drummer Scott Campbell moved there from Florida and met guitarist Bobby Jones. The two were soon joined by guitarist Jordy Davis and bassist Michael Payne. Later, the band gained vocalist “Metal Mike†Brewer to complete the current lineup.
Backwater Burial’s style could be described as an eclectic blend of Southern, Thrash, and Progressive Metal. Their influences include Pantera, Down, Death, Exodus, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slayer, and bands of the New Wave of American Metal such as Shadows Fall and Lamb of God. Backwater Burial abuses Krank, Peavey, and Ampeg amplifiers with Jackson, Dean, and B.C. Rich guitars, accompanied by Pearl drums.
A new breed of Southern Metal has arrived and it is known as Backwater Burial. Their unique sound will most certainly move your head! This is homegrown heavy metal, just like mama used to make.
