From making home movies with his dad’s JVC video camera at the tender age of six to directing his first feature, it has been Jurian Isabelle’s love for the celluloid that has kept him focused. Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, Jurian found himself studying the films of Stanley Kubrick and Michelangelo Antonioni while doing school work. A recent graduate of Alabama State University, where he majored in Television and Radio, Jurian brings an artistic eye and edge back to film that has recently disappeared. He also studied film at California State University Los Angeles for a year where he worked to perfect his craft as a writer and director. Veils of Color marks Jurian Isabelle’s directorial debut and introduces a motif that he wishes to continue in his work. “I want to make films that challenge people’s hearts and minds. I’m not really interested in creating films without substance –I’d rather use film as a catalyst to introduce new ideas and perspectives. Give people a new way of looking at the mysterious and fascinating world we live in.†Between writing original screenplays and directing films, the twenty-four year old works at WHNT News 19 in Huntsville, Alabama.
