Music:

i listen to A LOT of music. my life is music, i cant live without it. and what i listen to not only has a great influence on me but i relate to nearly all of it, it speaks to me etc. and music is just something i need, and i love. theres nothing like putting on a cd with a good friend and just sitting there listening to it, or the Woodstock DVD haha.....favorites by far = pearl jam, the cure, rage agaisnt the machine!!!, morning glory, InDK, stone temple pilots, alice in chains, blind melon with Hoon, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, TOOL...my list is very very VERY long: siouxsie, depeche mode, cypress hill, ice cube, tracy chapman, sly and the family stone, frank zappa, joe satriani, REM, Public Enemy etc etc. i like ska a lot too. music is just a big part of me, its everything for me, and if we dont share a connection there then we probably wont get along. but a real connection--you have to really feel the music and understand it, not just blast it on and forget about it. it has to mean something to you

Books:

im always reading. when im not people worry about me. i really like Baudelaire, and Khalil Gibran. i LOVE Gibrans stuff. english and spanish. arena y espuma, espiritus rebeldes, that book is a total must read for everyone. the prophet obviously.
i started reading "The Time of the Tribes: The Decline of Indivdualism in Mass Society", but its pretty boring and i stopped.i also like a book my bff recently recommended to me called Subcultura in spanish, im working on finding it in english. i wrote a blog about it. i LOVE PLAYER PIANO. im a big fan of dystopian novels. brave new world is cool too, i liked it but it depressed me haha. Orwell's 1984 is a classic duh so, i swallowed that one too haha. im a big fan of greek mythology, call me geeky, but, i like what i like. but as in real greek mythology, not stories based on it or anything weird like that.
anyways, i like books that will keep you up till you finish them.i really dont like romance novels or stories very much, even if theyre done sarcastically or in satire or even if theyre romantic comedies. romance is just...i duno i find it corny and boring. Persuasion (Jane Austen, as well as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Mansfield Park etc) theyre all pretty good (i mean, theyre great books) but as good as the points she makes are, i really just CANOT sit through a romance book.
one of my favorite short stories is The Yellow Wallpaper just because of its simpliticy in terms of the way its written, and obviously its a short story, but it says so much. i also like Thoreau. i LOVE Life Without Principle, he takes the words out of my mouth! and Walking, as well as civil disobediance of course.
I really liked the narrative of Sojourner Truth, about a woman whos a slave and not she awakes to the evils of slavery and realizes her own self, and her own self-worth. its as much anti racism as it is pro-feminism, its basically about a womans discovery of herself as a human, and as a woman, and a as a black woman in that time's society. dealing with loss, suffering, love etc..its just awesome just read it. and its a biogrpahy so its a real story, its very very cool.
occasionally i read stephen king but im not a big fan.not that creativity wise theyre not worth reading, but i dont know, his books get boring after a while not to mention a bit stupid. now youre going to laugh but, i have read and yes, enjoyed reading the harry potter series.go ahead and laugh, i am already. but hey i think theyre awesome. i like escapist literature, not all of it of course, but i do enjoy kiddy books and stupid fiction books cuz you cant have too much of one thing--like hardcore dystopian novels lol. you gotta have fun reading too, and read things that dont totally depress you and make you lose hope for humanity. although tool records can achieve that same effect haha
anyways i like isaac asimov books too. one of my favorites is Foundation and Earth. The whole Gaya thing i found really interesting.
i also read Dr. Seuss once in a while haha.
a great GREAT fiction book, as kiddy as the metaphors in it are, is THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH! it is so good because...it just takes you to another world and its a nice fantasy one kinda like alice in wonderland.
a friend of mine gave me this book--Wicked but i thought it was so crappy, please dont read it haha it was so dull and senseless. the other side of wizard of oz or whatever, it was such bullshit
i read the call of the wild and i think its great but the movie i think was just made to target "the masses". however anything with edvedders voice in it is a must see hahaha. i also enjoy mark twain stuff from time to time, The Private History of a Campaign that Failed is great, its hillarious. another short story i ADORE is Pauls Case, i fell in love with the protagonist in it. it was like i wanted to jump into the book haha and thanks to another great friend of mine, im guna check out Madame Bovary.
i should also add that once in a while i also enjoy poetry a lot cuz if its done well its really great stuff. not sassy girly crap but the good kind that takes you far away without the overuse of adjectives or cheap metaphors. Like for example The Flowers of Evil, i LOVE that book, really. love.
living in spain however makes it very difficult for me to have any book access so i frequently spend my time having to read off the internet which is extremly crappy because id much rather be sitting in bed or at a park than on my computer screen bent forward trying to read the words. but of course like any book spaz id love any book recomendations so dont hesitate to send a message! :p and ill try my best to get my hands on the book =) and if you really read my book list all theway till down here, then you should know probably not too many other people have hahah
