Lay Out The Traps!

About Me

Lay Out The Traps! were formed towards the end of 2005 by Paul the boy Barnes on vocals & Boff Konkerz on bass and were quickly joined by Joey, one of the best drummers they had ever seen/heard (currently playing with the Fabulous Penetrators so check em out). They were rehearsing for a short while before being joined by Dave Renegade on guitar (currently playing with The Gasoline queens) and did their debut show at the 12bar club on Denmark Street, where it was decided that Dave wasn't really right for the band.
We were then joined by Goro The Fucking Jap Guy on guitar (currently stranded in Japan, come back soon mate) after answering an ad on Denmark Street and things started going well. We recorded our debut album 'Beneath The Underdog' with the help of Sonic Studios (cheers guys) which was released October 06 and carried on playing at various venues around london including the Garage upstairs & down, 12Bar, Crobar, Purple Turlte, The Dome and various others. Also during this time we took a trip to Slovakia & Cezch Republic were we played in various different cities.
On our return we were then joined by Leee on rythem guitar who had been helping us book shows and with various other things to do with the band. Things were moving along nicely untill about May 07 when we got some bad news from Joey. He had decided to leave and give someone else a chance in the band as he couldn't commit as much time that was needed, especially with the festivals & tours that were booked for the future.
This is when Leee introduced us to Phil (Mad Dogs n Glory, Ramraid The Offy) and with help from Joey and lots of hard work he managed to learn the set in time for a couple of warm up gigs in June. We were then off to Slovakia & Cezch Republic again to play Hodokvas Festival & Rock For People Festival with the likes of The Killers, Marky Ramone, Machine Head & Korn while also playing a few club gigs. We returned 10 days later to complete the second leg of the tour, unfortunately Jappa's visa had ran out during this time and he had to go back to his motherland so was unable to come with us. We played in various clubs around the 2 countries and a couple of other smaller festivals and a great time was had by all (most of the time anyway haha).
We returned to England where we had been booked to play Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, as Jappa had still not returned Steve Rich (Hired gun for The Grit & various other bands) agreed to help us out and play a couple of shows on lead guitar for us. We went down really well at Rebellion (we hope) and all had a great weekend.
After Rebellion we suffered 2 more casualties, Boff (newly wed, congrats mate) decided he and his wife were going to India for 6 months and he no longer wanted to carry on with the band. Also Leee decided to take up an offer of becoming a tattoo apprentice which spelt the end of his time with the band.
After a band meeting Paul & Phil decided to take a break but not let Lay Out The Traps! die completely.
We have recently been joined by Kats on bass (Short Bus Window Lickers, Ramraid The Offy) & the timely return of the legend that is Jappa from Japan means he has rejoined on Lead guitar, we are currently writing new material and will be booking gigs in the near future so watch this space.
We would just like to say a big thanks to Boff, Joey, Leee, Shupka & everyone else thats helped or been involved & we are looking forward to playing again soon.
Cheers L.O.T.T!
